Internet Phone Security

September 9, 2017 by Fredric Giunta Leave a Comment

Security – I’m sure it is important to most of you. If you are using an Internet phone there are a few things you can do to make sure it is secure.

First thing you need to do is make sure that your network is secure. Having an unauthorized person or program running on your network is not a good thing. This can disrupt your Internet phone service and make it hard for you to talk. If a program is using up your network, it could be malicious and it could be blocking access to your broadband connection. Make sure no one and nothing is using your network without your permission.

Secondly, you need to make sure you have viruses and spyware in check. If you don’t, they could disrupt your phone service by flooding your connection with fake signals making it hard to connect or use your Internet phone service.

The third thing you can do is test your network against attacks. There are many tools out there to help you with these kinds of test. You want to make sure your network is secure as possible so you won’t get your connection interrupted by something bad.

Once you have done those three things, just make sure you always monitor your network to make sure everything is running smoothly. Again, there is software out there to help you with this. After you have done those four things to secure your network, your Internet phone service should never be interrupted.

Internet Phones vs. Regular Phones

September 9, 2017 by Fredric Giunta Leave a Comment

You are probably wondering what is the difference between Internet phones and regular phones. Well, there are some differences worth noting.

First, regular phones are connected through a wall jack in your house. With an Internet phone, the phone is connected to an adapter which is connected to your broadband connection. They both offer the same sound quality, so you won’t notice the difference. The person on the other end also wouldn’t know if you were on an Internet phone or just a land line based phone.

Internet phones have a very big advantage over regular phones. They are much cheaper. You won’t have to pay any extra fees for things like caller ID or call waiting. You also don’t have to pay any extra charge for long distance. With regular phones, long distance charges can drive up your phone bill by tens of dollars. With Internet phones, your bill is the same each and every month no matter how much you call. However, if you are using a basic phone plan, you might have to keep under a certain amount of minutes per month. The price savings can be about $20 to hundreds a year.

Regular phones don’t have to be connected to your broadband connection to work. This would be a plus for some people because their broadband connection goes out frequently. Some areas of the county have these problems when it rains or when there is a thunderstorm in their area. Most other people don’t have to worry about that. If you don’t have connection problems with your Internet phone, it should always be accessible(unless the power goes out).

So there you have it. The main differences between Internet phones and regular phones. I personally think Internet phones have a great advantage over regular phones and they are too big too ignore. The price savings alone is enough for anyone to switch.

Choosing an Internet Phone Provider

September 9, 2017 by Fredric Giunta Leave a Comment

Choosing an Internet phone company to supply you with service can be a bit tricky. I’m going to help you decide which one is best. There are a few things to look out for when deciding which company to go for.

Price – Price is a major concern when looking for an Internet phone company. Most Internet phone companies charge between $20 and $30 per month for unlimited service and unlimited long distance. If you want to go with the cheapest, you might not get all of the features you would want, but if they are there, go for it.

Phone Number – Some companies allow you to keep your existing number. Some of them just assign you a new phone number. This might factor into your decision because you wouldn’t want to give everyone your number again. Most Internet phone companies should allow you to choose what area code you want. Others might just give you your local area code number.

Long Distance – Most Internet phone companies have free long distance. Some do not. While it is rare to find this, I recommend that you go for a company that provides free long distance.

Features – Most people want the extra features that come along with a phone. These features are things like call waiting, caller ID, voice mail, call forwarding, three way calling, and caller ID blocking. Some companies add these features for free and others have a small fee for them. It depends on how much you want to pay to get these features.

Free Trial and Money Back Guarantees – You probably want to test out the service before you buy it. Make sure that the company has some form of a free trial period or a money back guarantee. If the service turns out to be bad for you then you would probably want your money back.

Those things are some things you should look for in choosing an Internet phone company. A company that I highly recommend and use myself is Vonage. They provide all of the things I have listed above for a low price. Make sure you take all things into account before choosing an Internet phone provider.
