Using 911 on Internet Phones

September 12, 2019 by Fredric Giunta Leave a Comment

If there was an emergency and you needed to contact help really fast, you wouldn’t want to be without 911. Well, until recently there wasn’t widespread adaptation of 911 calls in the Internet phone industry. Until recently, the Internet phone companies weren’t required to have a practical 911 solution.

Today there is E911. The FCC has required all Internet phone companies to have E911. E911 means enhanced 911. This E911 makes it easier for the 911 dispatcher to get your address. If you were to make a call to 911 on your Internet phone, you would get redirected to your local 911 dispatcher automatically. The operator would then receive your address without you having to tell them. This is a great help in an emergency.

All Internet phone companies should have E911. If you come across one that doesn’t have E911 or at least some form of local 911 redirection, you might want to switch companies.

Why Internet Phone Bundles Are Better Than Landline

December 22, 2017 by Fredric Giunta Leave a Comment

There are many reasons why landline doesn’t step up to the power of Internet phone. Here are just a few of those reasons that will make you wonder why they didn’t come out with this technology a long time ago.

#1 Free Calling

When you call with an Internet phone bundles package, you can make all the local and long distance phone calls you wish for free. That’s right; you don’t have to worry about how long you stay on the phone when you call long distance because it’s all part of your package. You also don’t have to worry about minutes usage like you do with your cell phone. You can call as many people for as long as you want and not pay one cent more than you would not calling anyone.

The way it works is that you pay a monthly fee and that covers everything. Some carriers will charge you $19.99 a month, while others will charge much less or much more. Comparing companies and internet phone bundles as well as prices will give you the best value and service available.

#2 Low Cost International Calls

Calling in the United States is free, but if you want to call outside of the U.S. you will have to pay a small per-minute charge. The rate that you pay will be much lower than what you are paying with your current landline. Most countries will charge you approximately .03 or .04 cents a minute.

You’ll notice that the per minute rates are even less than those of calling cards as well. You also don’t have to pay that initial cost for connection like on calling cards. It shows that Internet phone is the number one option in making calls for less. So check out internet phone bundles.

#3 Good Sound Quality

Many people assume that with a lower price comes lower quality. This isn’t the case with Internet phone. You can get the same sound quality as you do with your landline calls. At first, when Internet phone came out people experienced muffling and clicking when they called people. However, with advancements in technology that no longer is the case.

#4 Save on Taxes

If you ever look at your phone bill, you will see how many taxes are associated with your landline. All those required taxes aren’t part of Internet phone. That means you save big on your bill, and when combined with the phone call savings, you can see how valuable Internet phone can really be.

How to Get Started

To find Internet phone bundles, check with VoIP carriers. These are the Internet phone provides that will help you get started. Read reviews of the services online before you make a decision because your sound quality can be lower if you choose an unreliable network. Go with the bigger named network for more reliability.

Once you sign up for the service, you’ll receive a receiver that you will connect to your modem. You’ll also receive an adapter that you connect to your phone outlet. This will allow you to connect your modem and receiver to your phone line, making it possible to make the calls just as you normally do with your landline plan.

Internet Phone Prerequisites

November 16, 2017 by Fredric Giunta Leave a Comment

If you want to use an Internet phone, you will need a few things to get started. I will tell you in this article what kind of things you need to get started with the most common Internet phone services out there.

The first thing you absolutely need to have is a broadband connection. You will not be able to run an Internet phone service off of a dial-up connection. The reason is the adapter. You need to have an adapter to connect the broadband connection to your telephone. You can’t use a dial-up connection with the adapter. Even if you could, the dial-up connection would be too slow and there would be a reduced quality of the calls. After you have your broadband connection, there are a couple of other things you need to have.

The second thing you need to have is a telephone. Some Internet phone companies let you use a headset, but the bigger ones allow you to use your existing telephone. Your phone can any analog or digital phone. I would recommend a digital phone to minimize any potential problems. After you have your telephone and broadband connection, you really won’t need anything else.

Even though you won’t need anything beyond a broadband connection and a telephone, you still need to make sure that you have a reliable broadband connection. In some areas, the broadband connection can easily go out during a thunderstorm or even rain. Make sure that you live in an area that doesn’t have broadband connection outages. Most people don’t have this problem, but make sure you don’t have this problem.

So that is it. A broadband connection and a telephone. Once you have those two things, you are ready for an Internet phone system.

Disadvantages of Internet Phones

November 12, 2017 by Fredric Giunta Leave a Comment

With all the advantages of Internet phones there are some downsides. This article will deal with the disadvantages of using Internet phones. We want you to be able to make an informed decision about Internet phones.

The biggest problem with some Internet phones companies is the 911 dialing. You wouldn’t want to be without 911 service in an emergency. This is being solved though. The FCC is requiring all Internet phone companies to have E911. E911 means enhanced 911. When you call 911 on an Internet phone, you get redirected to your local 911 dispatcher. From there, the dispatcher is supplied with your address so they immediately know where you are. If the company that you are interested in doesn’t have this, then maybe you should look for another company.

Another disadvantage of using an Internet phones is the connection to the computer. Not all Internet phone companies supply you with an adapter for you to plug in your telephone. Some require you to use a headset to talk. These services are usually cheaper. If you want to use your telephone, you will have to fork over an extra couple of dollars per month if you want to use your existing telephone.

The final disadvantage of using a Internet phone is the international rates. This doesn’t apply to all companies and this doesn’t apply to most people. But if you want to call out of the US, you may be hit with larger fees. The larger companies have cheap prices for international calls, but the smaller companies might try to charge higher fees.

As you can see, Internet phones don’t have many downsides. If you choose the right company, you can minimize the bad things about using Internet phones and you would just benefit from the good.

Internet Phone Savings

October 12, 2017 by Fredric Giunta Leave a Comment

You may have heard that Internet phones are cheaper than using regular phones or cell phones. Is that true? Of course it is.

Internet phones are cheaper because the companies don’t have to worry about all the things the regular phone companies have to keep up with like telephone lines. They also don’t have to worry about towers or satellites for cell phones. Those things keep the price very low.

You could save a lot by switching to an Internet phone. A company that has a low price and is the most popular is Vonage. Vonage only charges $24.99 a month for the unlimited service. The basic service is only $14.99 a month for 500 minutes a month. If you use Vonage, you can get one month free to test out the service and make sure it was worth switching to. Most other Internet phone services charge between $20 and $30 a month for the service.

Most cell phone companies and regular phone companies charge over $40 a month for their service. By switching to an Internet phone service, you could save hundreds of dollars a year.
